Terms of Use
Last updated: October 22, 2026
1. What this is
Hey, Man is an anonymous peer-support forum where men can talk about mental health, relationships, work, and life. It is a community of peers — not therapy, counseling, or medical advice, and no one here is presented as a licensed professional. Nothing on this site should be relied on as a substitute for care from a qualified provider.
2. Who can use it
You must be 18 or older to create an account and post. By using the site you confirm that you are.
3. Your account
Accounts are created with an email address and are assigned an anonymous handle. You are responsible for what is posted from your account. Keep your own identifying details private — do not post your real name, address, workplace, or anything that identifies someone else.
Handles previously changed every day. From 17 September 2026, each member keeps one consistent anonymous handle, so replies in a thread can be followed over time. This change applies only to content posted from that date onwards: anything you posted before it keeps the daily handle it was posted under and is not re-attributed to you. Your handle is still not your real name, and we never show your email address to other members.
4. Community rules
You agree not to post:
- Hate speech, slurs, harassment, threats, or attacks on any person or group.
- Content encouraging or glorifying self-harm or suicide. (Talking honestly about your own struggles is welcome — that's what this place is for.)
- Profanity — we keep this space swear-free.
- Contact details or social handles (email, phone, Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp, etc.). Conversations stay on the platform, for everyone's safety.
- Spam, advertising, solicitation, or scams.
- Anything illegal, or content you don't have the right to post.
- Impersonation of another person, a professional, or this service.
5. Moderation and enforcement
We use automated filters. Content that breaks these rules may be blocked before posting or removed afterward, and accounts may be suspended or banned — automatically and without notice. Hate speech, and telling another member to harm himself, result in an automatic ban. Posts in which someone describes their own struggles are not punished: they stay up and automatically display crisis resources. We do not review posts before they appear, and we do not monitor the site in real time. We may remove any content or account at our discretion, but we are under no obligation to review, moderate, or remove anything. Members can report content using the “Report” link; reports are not guaranteed to be read within any particular time.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display and store it in order to operate the service. Posts are publicly visible. You can request removal of your account and content by emailing support@heyman.app.
7. No guarantees
The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that it will be available without interruption, that content posted by other members is accurate or safe to act on, or that moderation will catch everything. You use it at your own risk.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hey, Man and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decisions you make based on content found here. Advice from other members is their opinion alone and is not endorsed by us.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hey, Man, its operator, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the service, your posts, or your violation of these terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using the service and request deletion of your account at any time by emailing support@heyman.app. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including a violation of these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including content licensing, limitation of liability, and indemnification — continue to apply after termination.
11. Not a crisis service — no duty to monitor or rescue
We use automated filters to enforce our community rules, but we do not review content before it is published, we do not monitor the site in real time, and we do not guarantee that harmful content will be caught or removed before you see it. Where our system automatically displays crisis resources alongside a post, that is an automated feature applied uniformly — it is not a review of that post, not an assessment of anyone's safety, and not a commitment to respond. We have no obligation to contact emergency services, identify, or intervene on behalf of any member, including in situations involving an apparent risk of self-harm. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact 911 or your local emergency number directly — do not rely on us to do so.
12. Not a healthcare provider
Hey, Man is not a covered entity under HIPAA or similar health privacy laws. Health information you choose to share in a post is not subject to the confidentiality protections that apply to communications with a licensed healthcare provider.
13. Law enforcement and legal process
While we do not display your email or real identity to other members, we may be required to disclose account information in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person.
14. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
15. Entire agreement; no waiver; assignment
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. We may assign these terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets; you may not assign your rights under these terms without our consent.
16. Changes
We may update these terms as the service develops. Continuing to use the site after changes means you accept the updated terms.
